Learn Spoken English

‘Be’ Type sentences

‘Was and Were’ are the V II form. These are used excessively in spoken English.  Therefore, there is need to practise this type of sentences.  You may add any noun and adjective to frame such sentences.  Follow the given examples and speak as many sentences as you can.
·        Singular subjects(I also) take ‘was’
·        Plural subjects take ‘were’
I was angry with him.
You were absent throughout the session.

A.    This tense is quite easy, and we often use it.  There is a simple practice for this.  Take any event or incident that occurred in past and tell about that. Put it in your practice, tell your siblings or peers about some or the other event daily.  This practice is sufficient to improve this tense.

B.
Affirmative                            :           Suman asked him a question in the class.
Negative                                 :           Suman did not ask him any question in the class.
Interrogative                          :           Did Suman ask him any question in the class?
Interrogative Negative          :           Did Suman not ask him any question in the class?
Passive                                    :           A question was asked by him in the class.

Now speak sentences of Past Indefinite Tense using all these structures and the following main verb. Try using the adverbs and adjective as well.
